A very important market. It would be nice if they gained a decent foothold there, just to bring the global marketshare closer to iOS and Android. Rather a three horse race than two.

The W121 is a real bargain. That price is quite good for those specs. I have felt like the 630 is a little overpriced, and this really shows it.

I don't know anything about Micromax, but besides the specs of the phones there's also the after-sales service to take into account. Build quality and the Sensor Core tech in the 630 might also be enough of differentiating factors for the 630 to be the better choice - regardless of what values the Micromax and Nokia brands represent: "anything like nothing" vs "connecting people" is a good example of that.

And the Nokia apps - but they might come to all platforms now with the acquisition.

I agree that a three horse race is better than two and really makes it exciting to watch as each company work harder to innovate and bring more to consumers. The announcement of the Qualcomm Reference Design at BUILD was a smart move and I have to applaud Microsoft and Qualcomm for making this happen. If Windows Phone is (more) relevant five years from now, this could be a defining point it needs to ramp up market share faster for the OS.

the A7 is getting cheaper and cheaper to make. Glad its in this phone instead of some generic Mediatek SoC. Nice display, Decent ram (same as $700 iphone 5S), and great mobile OS. now we just need more apps for WP, and i think android and ios is in trouble.

This A7 is the low level end architecture for CPU from ARM, not the A7 from Apple used in IPhone 5s / IPads Air. The ARM A7 in this SoCs, is same that you find in cheap SoCs from Mediatek and others.

Both of those phones are pretty spectacular value for money. The screens are likely to be poor and the build quality probably won't be great, but in terms of pure specs and dollars, incredible value.

i've never seen a bad 720p IPS display.

Non laminated optical stack, standard glass rather than gorilla glass, not oliophobic, B quality panels rejected from others all do add up. Look at the Lumia 520, its decidedly mediocre even with its IPS, that's what i'm expecting.

Agreed. That said, I don't think any LCD screens look good on phones (I much prefer the far superior contrast of AMOLED displays)
